Summary
Through a collaborative foresight workshop with community leaders (October 31, 2023), four future scenarios were identified for the Regen Network environment: Snowcrash (cyberpunk, corporation-dominated), Ministry for the Future (bold collective climate action), CCP (centralized authoritarian control), and EU (institutional cooperation). Each scenario implies different needs and strategies for the $REGEN token and network.
The majority of participants felt that Snowcrash best describes their current reality, while Ministry for the Future is the shared desired future. Two main paths lead there:
- Cultural Impact (Snowcrash → Ministry): Empowering communities through origination development, csDAO programs, decentralized participation, and web3+ecology narrative building.
- Institutional Impact (EU → Ministry): Engaging municipalities, UN, COP, WEF, and other institutions; integrating carbon markets and public funding (e.g. IRA, USDA NRCS) with network verification tools.
Key Recommendation
The priority change should be economic community empowerment — local ecological communities should receive a much larger share of network funding. Currently, economic contributions to communities represent only a small fraction of total network investments.
The CCP scenario received little attention, suggesting that censorship-resistant infrastructure and sovereignty are not a top priority — meaning validator and tech maintenance spending could potentially be reduced without losing network value.
